Former Sharks on opponent: head coach Todd McLellan and staff; TV analyst Drew Remenda

Sharks pushed ahead through some power plays to take a commanding lead, then hang on while the Flames were unable to tie it up in regulation.  Another two-game road trip with 100% of the points in the bank.

With the Sharks’ 41st game in the books, Raffi Torres has finished his suspension.  Zubrus was put on IR so Torres could be put on the NHL active roster. Torres was then assigned to the AHL Barracuda on a conditioning stint and could make his season debut in the midwest as the Barracuda finish up a 3-game road trip in Rockford, IL and Des Moines, Iowa this week.  (Next Barracuda home game is 1/18 in the afternoon, followed by a Sharks game that evening.)

Now, the Sharks former coach comes to SAP Center for the first time this season. Edmonton is sitting last in the division and conference, with 38 points. Wünderkind Connor McDavid and Oscar Klefbom are on the IR and won’t be back until after the ASG.  Nail Yakupov could return Thursday from a sprained ankle.  But the Oilers have not fully “turned things around” to go from pretender to contender status in the league.

The Sharks are currently 3rd in the division, with 44 points, in 41 games; they have games in hand on every team in the league but two.  So the Sharks need to win those in-hand games to rise up the standings.

Guessing it may be Jones in net for the Sharks.
