And before they even drop the puck, the Sharks are worse off than when the finished the game Tuesday, as they are now hanging on to the last wild card spot (with other teams having games in hand).

The Sharks managed to get out of Nashville before the weather turned even worse (but it did strand Matt Tennyson who was trying to get back to Worcester).

Now, the Sharks face the Dallas Stars.  In a recent game, the Stars lost two of their key players to injury, including Seguin. The Stars have two games in hand and are four points behind the Sharks, so a loss could be providing even more pressure on the Sharks playoff hopes. (Former Shark Travis Moen was put on IR Wednesday.)

This will be the first time Dillon and Demers will face their old team since the trade.

Niemi vs Lehonten

Matt Irwin opened the scoring, which was the only Sharks’ goal in Braun’s return from the IR, and Stalock in net. But the Predators showed why they are the top team in the league, with five unanswered goals.

Should the Kings win on Thursday, the teams will be tied in the standings so Saturday’s outdoor game could be for real stakes.

Last game to start of the five on Tuesday, even though it’s 7pm local time.

Although with weather issues, you have to wonder if the NHL will postpone the game, or hold it as scheduled.  The Sharks have arrived.  If the refs and linesmen have, may go ahead even though there’s a request for no travel on Tuesday.  (And lots of cancelled flights.) Sharks did have a morning skate, but the home team did not.  Mayor has called for no unnecessary travel today.

The Preds made a significant trade on Sunday, but with the crazy weather, the paperwork for the players’ US work visas has been delayed, so they may be unavailable to play for the team.

Stalock scheduled to start for the Sharks. And probably Rinne for the Preds. Braun is back (Tennyson assigned to Worcester).

The Predators are offering to exchange tickets if fans are unable to make the game.

So, for the first time since 2003, Tampa got a regulation win in San Jose.

Even with the return of Vlasic to the lineup.

Sharks return home for Sunday’s game before they head out on the road for two games (before the outdoor game on Saturday).  The only good thing about this schedule, is that the team will not have to “live” in the hype at home until the day before the game.

Sharks may have Vlasic back in the lineup Sunday (which would probably mean that Demelo would be heading back to AHL to open up a roster spot). Braun is getting close to returning as well (perhaps before Saturday’s outdoor game).

The Lightning are hitting the road for five being soundly beat by the Blues at home on Thursday. They are sitting 2nd in the Atlantic and 3rd in the Eastern conference.

Finally Todd McLellan gets his 300th win, and becomes 2nd fastest coach to do so.

And the Sharks broke the streak of giving up at least a goal in each period.

The Sharks are missing two of their top D — Braun and Vlasic — badly.  A number of breakaways (zebra interference/non-call notwithstanding) that should have been stopped.

Yes, some of the “kids” have stepped up and are doing well.  But they are not the grizzled veterans and experienced journeymen they are replacing in the lineup.

Plus some video from Nabby’s presser and other things from Nabby’s retirement.
