Sharks decimated the Leafs on Saturday, winning 7-0.

Now they head out on the road for a couple before their next home game on Thursday.

Jones is scheduled to start for the Sharks.  Marleau will play in his 500th consecutive start.

Today, Robin Regehr retired from hockey as a Calgary Flame, signing a symbolic contract to do so. Ramo scheduled to start for the Flames.

Sigh.  All things come to an end.  Barracuda five-game win streak ends.

Dell was spectacular taking a shutout (matching his opponent) into the OT.  But a number of missed/lost opportunities for the Barracuda to get a goal.

Very active game/north-south.

Note: This game starts at 4pm PT.

Sharks again lost at home after giving up the first goal, falling to 5-12 at home (worst in the league).  There was a strong push in the third that nearly tied it, but Mzarek wasn’t letting anything through after Ward’s goal.  Frustrations even boiled over after the game.  They are still looking for their first win of 2016.

Sharks recalled Tierney on Friday; Zubrus may miss Saturday’s game.  DeBoer mixed up the lines at Friday’s practice, looking for more offense.

Sharks are giving away a Ricci mini locker at the game.

If the Sharks lose Saturday and Edmonton wins, they’ll be at the bottom of the division standings (and conference, league). The Sharks do have games in hand on the other teams; but will/can they win to take advantage of that?

Maple Leafs, under head coach Babcock, lost to the Kings on Thursday, so will be looking for a second win in California Saturday night/afternoon to salvage their Golden State swing. Bernier starting for Leafs.

Who will start for the Sharks?  Put Stalock in to give him some rhythm to add to his recent two wins in the AHL or give Jones another start after giving up two in Thursday’s game?  (With back-to-backs on the road Monday and Tuesday, it may be that both will get one of those games as starter.)

Barracuda vs Rampage 160109

Start of back-to-back games against San Antonio, with second game Sunday afternoon.  This is the first time these two franchises have played.

With win Wednesday, Barracuda get tied for 2nd in division.  Tierney recalled to NHL on Friday.  Barclay Goodrow was named to the AHL All Star roster (1/31, 2/1 in Syracuse).

San Antonio won their game in Bakersfield on Friday 3-1, before the two games in San Jose.

Late start, and the Rampage got on the board first, but the Cuda took the lead, and maintained a 3-goal lead for most of the night.  Haley had a couple of goals.

Sharks played horrendously.  No confidence, etc.  Let’s see what a few days of practice do to change the play and mood.

Meanwhile…. Brent Burns and Joe Pavelski have been named to the Pacific Division All Star roster.  Matt Tennyson has been recalled from the Barracuda.  Chris Tierney and Al Stalock (conditioning stint) were assigned to the Barracuda after Saturday’s game.  Stalock got to play two games and got two wins before being recalled Thursday morning.

Red Wings come to the Tank, for their only game of the regular season.  (I’m expecting 10%+ of fans present to be wearing DRW gear.)  This is the second game of a six-game road trip. Wings looking for third straight win. Mzarek scheduled to start.

Jones is the scheduled starter for the Sharks.

Barracuda vs Heat 160106

Back at it after a couple of days from their last win.

Tennyson was recalled to NHL.  (Pinkston was assigned to ECHL.)  Cundari is back from Europe and ready to play.  Jesse Mychan was released from PTO.

Biggest shocker: Stollery shaved off his beard!

Back at it Wednesday, against the Stockton Heat. The Heat are looking to extend their three-game winning streak. The Barracuda also have a three-game winning streak.  Someone’s going to 4 tonight.  Stockton has yet to win at SAP Center.

A win would put the Barracuda tied for 2nd in division.

Barracuda fell behind the Heat, but came back strong to tie it up and force overtime and win in the extra session (three unanswered goals in 3rd and OT).  And they got the four-game win streak, not Stockton (who has yet to win in SJ).

First and second period effort was a bit off, but the strong surge in the third allowed them the ability to get to OT and then win.

Barracuda vs Stars 160103

Another back-to-back, this time with travel for the both teams, but Texas is only coming from Stockton.  It’s the last game of the day on the AHL sched.

Sharks have recalled Troy Grosenick and assigned Al Stalock (conditioning) and Chris Tierney to the Barracuda.  Mark Cundari is also back from the Spengler Cup.  (Reinforcements)  Could be a major shot in the arm to receive these players.  (So, I’ll expect Stalock to get the start today.)

Goldobin notched his first AHL hat trick, leading the team to a 5-1 win over Texas. Stalock got the start and the win.

With a 5-10 home record in the first three months of the season, the Sharks hope to improve that on their current home stand, with their first three games of 2016.

Jets are coming to San Jose as the second stop on their five game road trip (longest of the season). Trip started with 2-4 loss in Arizona, their sixth straight road loss. Coach Maurice is looking for answers.

Sharks have had two days off and don’t play next until Thursday, so the bench could get real short if the team gets behind. Sharks are hoping a healthy roster will allow players to slot in where they can play best (and win games).

Update: Jones vs Hellebuyck (starting goalies)

Barracuda @ Condors 160102

Barracuda sign Jesse Mychan to PTO.  (Scott Timmins has also been released from his PTO and signed to a SPC.)

Condors have added Zack Kassian (acquired in trade) and Nikita Nikitin to their roster recently.  Both players looking to prove something to the organization (and themselves) to get back to the NHL.

Condors are having a Minions giveaway on Saturday.

Barracuda are 2-1-0-1 against the Condors so far this season.

Cundari (and Team Canada) won the Spengler Cup 12/31.  Not sure when he’ll be back in the lineup for the Barracuda.  (Perhaps not Saturday, nor Sunday; more likely by Wednesday?)

Barracuda vs Checkers 151230

Back to face the Checkers again.  Guessing that Grosenick will get the start.

Sixth double header of the season today.

Prior to the game, Matt Tennyson was assigned to the Barracuda on a conditioning stint.  He did play in the game.  Dell got the start.

Game felt very different from Monday, even though most of the personnel was the same.  More like a back-and-forth game.  Checkers scored first; then the ‘Cuda scored twice and took the lead, and then the Checkers tied it up in regulation. ‘Cuda had THREE PPs (including some 5-on-3) in OT, but did not score. Lerg was the only player to score in the shootout, giving the team the win.  On to Bakersfield for a game on Saturday.
