I predicted: “Could be a real nasty game, a real dispirited game, a real hard-hitting-all-business game.” Was mainly the latter two (the dispiritedness happening in the 3rd when the Ducks came back to within one).
But it’s a win. Two points. Four game losing streak ended.
Couture gutted it out (he looked a bit green during warm ups; had been at hospital most of the day getting antibiotics via IV for swollen face near eye), and notched two goals. Wingels had a big night (1G, 3A — new career high), and Long Beach native Nieto broke his goalless streak.

Sharks practiced on Thanksgiving, and were back practicing on Friday, with some new pairings and line combinations. Two more days to brood about losing streak (and who might be the next roster move away).
The Ducks hosted Chicago Friday evening before flying up, losing 1-4.
So, neither team should be in good humor. Could be a real nasty game, a real dispirited game, a real hard-hitting-all-business game. Will be interesting to see which.
Prior to Friday’s game, the Ducks acquired D Eric Brewer (after putting two more D on IR). Seems like he may make his Ducks debut tonight.
Sounds like Stalock is healed enough he’ll probably be the back up (guess he and Grosenick will swap spots on IR). And Brown could come off of the IR (so, who’s moving? — ends up being Kennedy with lower body injury).
For those with DISH satellite service, due to contract issues, you might not have CSNCA to watch the Sharks as of Monday.

May have to dust off the thesaurus to describe this one.
Sharks did press, but they were unable to get past Ramo (a couple of posts and cross bars). But not for lack of trying (32 shots, 30 blocked attempted shots).
Sharks are sinking further out of playoff spot.
Sharks alum Devin Setoguchi cleared waivers Thursday morning, and has been assigned to Calgary’s AHL team.

Sharks have been off since Saturday’s game, getting in some time away from rink, good practices, and time with family. Epix even stopped by for a day of shooting the guys in preparation for the full shooting schedule in January and February.
On Sunday, F Adam Burish cleared waivers and was assigned to AHL Worcester. D Matt Tennyson was recalled from Worcester. F Mike Brown is close to a return; another roster move will have to be made to accommodate him in the NHL roster. Next week F Raffi Torres is scheduled to start skating again (on his non-ACL knee).
Without games being played to write about, media has looked at the Sharks record and speculating on the future of the Sharks’ head coach (and who the next might be).
Flames are in the midst of a road trip and have a game Tuesday in Anaheim before facing the Sharks on Wednesday. (3-2 loss, with a late 3rd period goal disallowed.) This was the 19th sequential game that the Flames have lost to the Ducks.
Wednesday, Flames put Shark alum Devin Setoguchi on waivers.
Niemi starting, but Grosenick injured (Stalock not ready to return); scrambling for emergency backup.
Sharks sign SJSU hockey club alum Ryan Lowe to PTO as emergency backup goal tender. The 31 year old played in Australia professionally, and with AHL Utah.

Home record sinks to 2-3-2. The addition of Dillon did not guarantee a win.
First period was not a good one, but the Sharks had more success in the 2nd and 3rd. Still, they lost in the shootout.

UPDATE: Burish clears waivers and is assigned to AHL Worcester. D Matt Tennyson recalled. (NHL Sharks do cap hit of salary in excess of $925k.)
Adam Burish was put on waivers Saturday.
What does that mean?
The Sharks need a NHL roster spot, most likely for Mike Brown. And Burish was found the most expendable.
My guess is that GM Doug Wilson was unable to find a trade partner to take Burish. (Getting an asset for a player is almost always preferable to losing him for “nothing”.)
(Sharks nominally don’t comment on situation until after the waiver period has concluded.)
What happens next?
Other NHL teams have until 9am Sunday 11/23 to put in a claim on Burish. If no team claims him, he can be assigned to AHL Worcester. If one or more teams put in a claim, the team with the worst record will be the one to get him.
Burish is a servicable forward, has a reasonable contract, and a great attitude. There are a few teams where his services could be of use (especially with a long list of injuries; I’m looking at you Columbus, Philadelphia).

Sharks home record is 2-3-1. Not acceptable when compared to their historic norm. Especially when they’ve been swept by a few Eastern Conference teams.
After a long string of non-division opponents, they are facing the Arizona Coyotes, for the first time this season.
But it won’t be with the same line up that was iced on Thursday, as on Friday, D Jason Demers (and a 2016 3rd pick) was traded to the Dallas Stars for D Brendan Dillon. Dillon, wearing #4, is expected to be in the line up Saturday against the Coyotes.
In case you’re wondering, this is not a new opponent, but they do have a new name. Part of the lease arrangement with the new owners of the Coyotes is to change their “location” from Phoenix (many miles from the city of Glendale where the arena is located) to Arizona (hoping to be able to have a better outreach to the state, perhaps).
TRANSACTION: Burish put on waivers (so likely to be scratch tonight).
Appears that it’ll be Niemi vs Dubnyk in the nets tonight.

There was some effort, but not enough to win their first game home after a long road trip. Marleau’s late goal (after missing earlier penalty shot) gave the Sharks a point.
Sharks hit the practice rink on Friday and hope to have a winning effort against the Coyotes on Saturday.
