141014 – pregame Sharks @ Capitals 4pm

The boys get on a big white plane with a Shark on the tail for their first long road trip of the season.  (Flying out Monday)  Road trip starts in Washington, DC with game against the Capitals.  Then they travel to Long Island for their last (barring Stanley Cup miracle) trip to Nassau Memorial Auditorium to play the Islanders.  Next, Newark to play the Devils, followed the next day with a tilt against the Rangers at MSG.  Finally, the boys head to Boston to wrap up the trip against the Bruins. (Note — I’ll be traveling to those three middle games, so game news may be infrequent, incomplete, or not happening.  But I will blog about my trip on my return. I’ll be the one in teal, if you’re looking.)

As of departure, the Sharks have 12 healthy forwards (including Scott), 7 healthy D and 2 perfect goaltenders.  Brown is nursing “upper body” injury after blocking puck on Saturday, and not expected to play on this trip but is traveling with the team; Sheppard and Kennedy (both on IR) are also traveling with the team; perhaps they could be activated to play. (Did not see update on Goodrow specifically, but I’m thinking he’ll be traveling with the team as well.)

Tuesday news from skate:  With Brown out, Scott will be making Shark debut. Scott Hannan to play 1000th game tonight. Niemi vs Holtby in net battle.

Jamie Baker was on NHL Live (NHL Network) this afternoon and indicated that his wife, parents and other family and friends will be in attendance for tonight’s game.
